The distinction between historian and poet is not in the one writing prose and the other verse... the one describes the thing that has been, and the other a kind of thing that might be. Hence poetry is something more philosophic and of graver import than history, since its statements are of the nature rather of universals, whereas those of history are singulars.( Read more... )

I did make the decision to take the train home, but I am regretting it somewhat. The brother seems to have taken to humming as out of tune as possible as he moves about the house. I think he knows it bothers me so very much.
The reason I decided to come home for the break is because this will be the last winter break at Hogwarts I will get to enjoy, plus there are several concerts that I wish to attend. Now that I am old enough, I can attend these on my own or with friends.
What plans and traditions do you have, if any, for the holidays?

I do not care that some of you may not know or have even been alive when he was enough to know the complete experience, but I will write it anyway. There will always be musicians and activists, visionaries and songwriters, but in everything there will only be one John Lennon and for those who have not experienced the joy of his music and world changing vision, I pity you to the depths of my soul.
He was one of the most influential singers and songwriters and I aspire to have my music and lyrics be as great and enduring as his. They are multi-national, multi-generational and multi-aspirational. John Lennon was murdered on 8 December 1980 in front of his home in America. For this I am mourning the loss of a great soul, heart and mind, but I will forever love John Lennon and his works in The Beatles, with David Bowie, Yoko Ono and countless others. His music will live on forever and so does his memory.
Repose en paix.

Twenty-two, if anyone was wondering.
So much of what is best in us is bound up in our love of family, that it remains the measure of our stability because it measures our sense of loyalty. All other pacts of love or fear derive from it and are modeled upon it.
I very much agree with the poet Haniel Long, I also think one cannot measure their loyalty by their family so completely. I absolutely abhor my brother and I suppose I would do a lot for him, I really wish for this "loyalty" never to be tested. I am actively considering skipping Christmas with my family for the need to continuously avoid him.

Quidditch is not that important. Rarely does anyone actually die, I can actually count on one hand how many people have died or disappeared in the past fifty years, so I wish people would calm themselves and not worry so much. Terrible news that little Potter was involved in such, but it has happened he is fine, we should move on and stop with the hysterics.
There are more important things to discuss, now that the terror is over.
